About Us

Our Goals

The aim of C.O.F. Haven Inc. is to ensure tenant satisfaction while providing for the future of the organization. To accomplish this, management utilizes several key functions. Prepering and strictly following budgets enables us to control spending while guaranteeing maintenance and building care. The Resident Managers are in place to assist tenants with onsite care acting as liaison between management and tenants with the intent of providing an effective method of communication. The combined efforts of Management, Onsite Staff, and the Tenant Association provide a healthy and thriving communtiy atmosphere.

Our History

Mike Sunka breaks ground

Many stories begin with just one person. In the case of C.O.F. his name was Mike Sunka. His goal, as is ours now, was to provide comfortable and affordable accommodations for seniors with modest incomes. His journey began by meeting with Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation to determine what was required to accomplish such a task. Mike formed a board of directors consisting equally enthusiastic volunteers, all the while fundraising to meet the target of $100,000 set forth by CMHC.

Finally, the money was raised and construction began for the Haven 1 (Mike Sunka Place) project. In October of 1975 construction was completed and those that would call it home moved in. Due to the success of Haven 1, another project was initiated and in April of 1979 Haven 2 was completed. Anavet Lodge, built in 1968, was the last addition to our properties and was purchased from the Army, Navy, and Air Force Veterans in 1995.
